My dinner came and I ate it before putting the leftovers in the fridge.

Normally when I order out I usually order A LOT of food because I like having leftovers plus it helped with having to do grocery shopping.  Plus ‘normally’ my leftovers, especially Chinese food, lasts about three days.  Not bad in my humble opinion.

I headed out and got into my car as I begun my drive to work.

I stopped at my usual gas station as I walked in to see it was Holly behind the counter as I spoke, “How’s it going, Holly?’ before I walked to the back where the drinks were and grabbed two energy drinks and a canned coffee.  As I approached the front I also grabbed a bag of chips and a bag of beef jerky.

I approached the counter and smiled, “Hey Holly?”

Holly blinked and took the ticket from me and waved it at the lotto reader and it confirmed I had won $500.

Holly smiled at me, “Congrats Reece, I’ll call my manager so he can cash it out for you.”

I smiled, “Thanks Holly.”

I waited a few moments before the manager came out from the back as he spoke, “What is it?”

Holly spoke, “We have a scratcher winner that’s bigger than my till.”

The manager blinked before he approached me and I handed him the scratcher with the receipt from Holly showing that it was a $500 winner.

The manager looked at both before he nodded and looked at me, “Give me a minute and I’ll pull the cash from the back.”  He handed me the ticket, “In the meantime fill out the back with your information and I’ll do the rest.”

I nodded as I turned and accepted a pen from Holly to fill out the back of the scratcher.  I quickly jotted down my information before the manager came back and handed me five $100 bills as he spoke, “Here you go.”  I accepted the cash and handed him the ticket and receipt of the winning confirmation.  He smiled accepting the ticket, “Pleasure doing business.”

I held up the cash to him in mock thanks before pocketing the cash and turned to grab my bag from the counter, “See ya, Holly.”

I got into my car and moved the items from the bag into my backpack of holding as I saw in my mind the items taking up their own slots including the scratchers I put in them.  Then I headed off to work before I was going to be late.

I hauled ass the remaining distance and unfortunately for me I looked in my rearview mirror to see lights as a cop was pulling me over causing me to hiss, “SHIT!”

I pull over already texting my boss that I was now going to be late due to getting pulled over already dreading THAT conversation.

I sent off the text before the cop arrived at my window.

I barely noticed it was a woman cop as she spoke, “License, registration, and insurance sir?”

The cop ignored me as she spoke, “So you’re agreeing that you were speeding?”

The woman looked at me, “Could you please turn off the vehicle and step outside so we can talk?”

I sighed and turned off my car before I stepped out.

I noticed the cop, which was a woman cop, stood about 5′ compared to my new height, which I was unsure of my new height.  She had a petite frame though it was hard to tell with all the gear she was visibly wearing.

I also saw that her partner was also a woman that stood about the same height and the same way.  Except she was a blonde and this one was a brunette.

Both cops were extremely good looking if not gorgeous in their own right.

The cop spoke, “Mind if we talk on the sidewalk for safety.”

I nodded as I smiled at her, “Sure.”

I walked with the cop to the sidewalk.

The cop that held my stuff I saw her name tag read ‘M. Hicks’ as I looked at the blonde cop and saw her name tag read ‘A. Grisham’.

I stood there and equally felt both cops looking me up and down as I spoke, “Like I said officer, I’m extremely sorry for my haste but I’m running late for work and I’ll never do it again by giving myself more time.”

The brunette holding my stuff nodded as she looked at me, “You already said that.  But that doesn’t excuse you for speeding.”

I nodded, “You’re right.”

The brunette looked at the blonde for a moment before she handed my stuff to the blonde, “Run his stuff.”

The blonde, Grisham, accepted my stuff from Hicks and walked back to the car while I stood there unsure what to say.

Hicks spoke, “Do you normally fly like a bat from hell through here?”

I looked at her with a chuckle, “Nonsense.  I normally follow the rules.”  I shrugged, “I just got held up at the convenience store a little bit longer than I expected, causing me to be running late to work.”

Hicks looked at me flatly, “And where do you work?”

I pointed ahead, “At the warehouse for Nozama.”

Hicks turned her attention towards the massive building that was probably less than a mile away.

I also noticed while Hicks was distracted I saw a few cars that recognized pass by causing me to groan internally as I knew the cars and the drivers were already dreading what was going to happen at work.

Hicks looked at me and nodded, “Last question, will your record come back with anything that I should be concerned with?”

I shrugged looking perplexed, “Not that I’m aware of.  Like I said, I follow the rules and don’t break the law.”  I chuckled, “Unless there’s an unpaid parking ticket that I’m unaware of.”

Hicks looked at me as I held up my hands, “Joke!”

I held up both cards to test that waters, “Thanks, maybe I’ll offer a coffee or something as a thank you for letting me go with a warning.  I am getting a warning, correct?”

Hicks coughed, “Yes that’s right.”

I nodded, “Alright, coffee as a thank you.  I promise.”

I lightly jogged around my car and got in.  I started my car and pulled away following the speed limit for the remaining distance to the parking lot.

I turned off my car, “This is so weird.”

I grabbed my backpack and exited my car as I jogged from my car to the entrance as I waved my employee ID at the door so I could get in hoping I wasn’t TOO late.

I walked into the entrance where us normal workers had to go through security before we were allowed to start our and saw my boss, Henry Ripka, standing on the other side of security obviously waiting for me.

I nodded, “Right.”

Henry turned and walked off as I was a little surprised that I didn’t get more of an ass chewing but I guess seeing how this was my first instance of being late he was letting it slide or something.

I walked off and headed to the locker room thinking I should at least hang my backpack but shrugged as I thought ‘hell I’ll just put my backpack at my station so everything is close by and I don’t have to worry’.

I still headed to the nearest computer station and inserted my employee ID and went to the check in system to input my start time as it read my check in was 8:09pm.  I sighed knowing I’ll probably have to sign something showing and agreeing to my lateness of 9 fucking minutes.

Once I officially clocked in I headed off to my usual station and set my backpack on the counter as I reached in and pulled out one of my energy drinks before stowing my backpack under my station.  Then I input my employee ID into the station showing I had entered my station and it begun printing out orders that had been selected for my area.

There were nine other stations close to where I was but hadn’t paid them much attention before I turned around with my first set of orders and blinked that quite a few people were simply staring at me.

I waved at each person and saw that the women were the ones who were staring as the men were diligently already heading off to do their thing not minding me one little bit.  The women who were staring simply blushed and quickly put their heads down the moment I waved at them.

I looked at them weirdly before I shrugged and headed off to start grabbing orders as I also grabbed a cart.

I spent the next hour grabbing items from each order making sure I didn’t miss anything before I headed back to my station to begin boxing them and getting ready for shipment.

I had barely started when over the loud speaker I heard, “Mr. Knight please come to Ms. Howly’s office.  Again Mr. Knight to Ms. Howly’s office.”

I looked up a little perplexed wondering why MY boss’s boss would want me.

Was I in trouble?

I shrugged internally and grabbed my backpack in case I was fired or something before I headed off to Ms. Howly’s office.

I walked to the main area where the offices were and walked into the hall before I found Ms. Howly’s office.

I gently knocked before I heard a woman’s voice speak, “Come in.”

I opened the door and poked my head in, “You wanted to see me ma’am?”

She looked up from her computer, “You Knight?”
